IS SOCIAL MEDIA A BOON OR A BIN FOR TEENS?

LOOKS LIKE THIS LITTLE BOY HERE IS NEW TO SOCIAL MEDIA, BUT I HOPE BEFORE STARTS USING SOCIAL MEDIA HE HAS DONE SOME RESEARCH ON WHETHER SOCIAL MEDIA IS A BOON OR A BIN.

HI! AS YOU GUYS KNOW THIS IS MY THIRD BLOG WITH YOU TODAY I AM HERE TO DISCUSS SOCIAL MEDIA CONFUSION, ON WHETHER IT'S A BOON OR BIN. I WOULD REALLY WANT TO SUPPORT SOCIAL MEDIA AS A BIN BUT WAIT FOR THE BOON ONE IN MY NEXT VLOG.

I will start by giving you some background information. Social media is a way of communication online by sharing, viewing, and creating information, personal messages, and ideas.

As we are all aware social media is spreading through the world very fast. Right now social media has

5.17 billion users.

Turning our attention to those 5.17 billion users who are facing negative effects such as:

  • Cyberbullying

  • Mental health issues

  • Tech addiction

  • Exposure to inappropriate content

  • Getting Misinformation

  • Not enough sleep

  • Fear of missing out (FOMO)

  • Social isolation

I’d like to expand on my points starting with cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying happens when teens receive hurtful and malicious messages causing damage to their self-esteem and confidence.

Mental health issues take place when teenagers compare themselves with posts and images of other people causing them depression.

Tech addiction isn’t only bad for teens but also worries teachers, guardians, and parents as many ignore physical activities

and participation in gatherings.

Exposure to inappropriate content is common these days as many get to see content that doesn’t belong to their age.

Getting misinformation is also common on social media as people can post any news

without checking if it is fake or real and people might believe it.

Not getting enough sleep nowadays is a trend as many teens scroll late at night making it harder for them

to fall asleep. Thus, the bright light from the phone tricks our brain making us think it’s still daytime.

Fomo is nowadays a big depression. Social media can make us feel like we're missing out on fun things.

Seeing everyone else's exciting posts can make us feel sad or left out, even if we're having a

good time in real life.

Social isolation occurs when someone feels lonely and disconnected from others.

Even when surrounded by people, they may feel alone or like they don't belong.
